|Alison Kitchen is the first female chairman of a professional services firm in Australia. Having started as a graduate with KPMG 35 years ago, Alison cut her teeth in the accounting world as a young auditor in the UK. In the early 1990's she took the opportunity to relocate to Perth where she worked for many large resource intensive companies before making Partner in 1994. Coerced by a mentor, Alison was thrown into the limelight in 2001 when she was appointed the role of National Leader for Energy and Natural Resources. Throughout the subsequent 15 years, Alison oversaw KPMG's mining, oil & gas, and power & utilities businesses whilst still acting as the lead auditor on a number of ASX top 50 companies. In 2017, Alison was elected as the national chairman for KPMG and is responsible for the firms governance and operations in Australia. Alison is passionate about diversity, inclusion and the need for public trust.|
In this session, Alison will share the journey of a career intertwined with the mining and resources sectors, and how she has risen to be the first female chair of a professional services firm in Australia.
She will offer some learnings and insights she has gained from successes and failures throughout her career and provide an open platform for audience participate and discussion.
