Congratulations to Peabody’s Kelly Seymour who could become one of the few resources sector woman working in Queensland to be certified as a Senior Site Executive (SSE) after her successful bid for an SSE training scholarship. The scholarship, offered by Optimised Mining was announced at this year’s QRC/WIMARQ International Women’s Day Breakfast in March. Kelly has 20 years’ experience in the mining industry spanning four commodities and multiple countries. She has progressed from administration to training advisor, to Health Safety and Training Superintendent and project manager roles. Kelly hopes to step further up to leadership roles on completion of her SSE Certification. There were many high quality applicants for the scholarship and Optimised Mining’s Kiernan Smithson said that Kelly stood out in her leadership skills and motivation for attaining the SSE certificate. “We had some amazing leaders who applied and candidates who were motivated to do their SSE certificate, Kelly however had the highest average across the three,” he said. thank you Optimised Mining for providing this valuable scholarship.
