Women in Mining and Resources Queensland (WIMARQ) is pleased to announce the appointment of Kristy Purdon from Anglo American) as Co-Chair of WIMARQ, joining current Co-Chair Catherine Cook from Stanwell Corporation.
Kristy has been a longstanding and highly valued member of the WIMARQ committee and brings extensive experience and a strong passion for supporting women across Queensland’s mining and resources sector. She also leads the successful WIMARQ Bowen Basin Chapter, which continues to play an important role in connecting and empowering women working across regional Queensland.
Through her involvement with WIMARQ, Kristy has been a strong advocate for building inclusive networks, championing leadership development and creating opportunities for women at all stages of their careers in the resources industry.
Kristy Purdon said she was honoured to step into the Co-Chair role and continue contributing to WIMARQ’s important work. “WIMARQ plays an incredibly important role in supporting women across Queensland’s mining and resources sector, particularly in regional communities. I’m proud to be part of an organisation that creates opportunities for connection, mentorship and professional growth, and I look forward to working alongside Catherine and the committee to continue building on the strong foundations already in place.”
Catherine Cook welcomed Kristy to the leadership role and acknowledged her ongoing contribution to WIMARQ. “Kristy has been an outstanding contributor to WIMARQ for many years and her leadership of the Bowen Basin Chapter has made a significant impact in supporting women across regional Queensland. I’m delighted to have her join me as Co-Chair and look forward to working together to continue strengthening the WIMARQ network and advancing opportunities for women in our industry.”
WIMARQ also extends its sincere thanks to former Co-Chairs Sally Rayner and Rob Jackson for their exceptional leadership and dedication. Their care, commitment and inspiration have left an indelible mark on WIMARQ and created a strong legacy for the committee to build upon.
